SpaceX is set to launch 27 Starlink V2 Mini satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Monday, April 7. The liftoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. PDT (6 p.m. EDT, 2200 UTC) and has a 3.5-hour launch window extension if needed.
Live coverage of the mission will be provided by Spaceflight Now starting about 30 minutes prior to liftoff. After just over eight minutes in space, SpaceX plans to land the first stage booster on a droneship, ‘Of Course I Still Love You,’ marking the 124th successful landing and the 428th overall.
This launch marks the debut of a new Falcon 9 first stage booster, which may be B1091. It is one of two new boosters introduced by SpaceX in 2024, following the launch on February 27. The company aims to increase the reuse rate of its boosters, with the goal of having each booster able to launch up to 40 times.
As of now, SpaceX has 18 Falcon boosters in its active rotation, with 11 currently in use on the East Coast and seven on the West Coast. However, one booster is not being re-flown as a Falcon 9 rocket, which previously supported the launch of the GOES-U weather satellite.
