SpaceX successfully launched nearly 30 Starlink satellites early Thursday morning as its first-stage booster marks its 10th mission of the year. The Falcon 9 rocket, carrying the Starlink 10-20 mission, took off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 8:29 a.m. ET.
The launch occurred within a four-hour window, which SpaceX did not specify the reason for adjusting. Weather conditions were favorable, with the 45th Weather Squadron predicting an 90% chance of good liftoff weather.
This marks the first stage booster B1085’s 10th mission this year, following its initial use in crewed missions and other launches. The booster has already contributed to four successful launches, including two crewed missions and a lunar launch.
The Starlink 10-20 mission will deploy 28 satellites into low-Earth orbit, where they will provide internet services to various parts of the globe. SpaceX owns the Starlink company, which has already deployed over 8,100 satellites in orbit, with approximately 7,103 operational ones.
