SpaceX Launches 28 Starlink Satellites into Orbit from Florida

SpaceX launched another batch of its Starlink internet satellites early this morning (August 4) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 28 Starlink spacecraft lifted off at 3:57 a.m. EDT and successfully deployed the upper stage with the satellites, which are now heading to low Earth orbit.

This launch marks SpaceX’s 96th Falcon 9 launch of the year and the fifth for this specific booster, known as B-1080. The rocket’s first stage touched down in the Atlantic Ocean about 8.5 minutes later, as planned. The Starlink megaconstellation, which consists of over 8,000 operational satellites, continues to grow with each new launch.

The latest batch of Starlink satellites will join an already crowded sky, as the megaconstellation is expanding its presence in orbit. With a growing number of satellites, SpaceX aims to provide high-speed internet services to remote and underserved areas around the world.
