SpaceX successfully deployed its 28th Starlink V2 Mini satellites aboard the Falcon 9 rocket during the Starlink 6-75 mission on May 1. The launch, which took place at 9:51 p.m. EDT from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, marked the company’s 51st Falcon 9 launch of 2025.
According to forecasts by the 45th Weather Squadron, favorable weather conditions prevailed during the liftoff, with no meteorological concerns for the Falcon 9 flight. The mission used the Falcon booster tail number 1080, which has conducted 18 flights to space and supported several private astronaut missions, cargo shipments, and the European Space Agency’s Euclid observatory.
The rocket landed on the droneship “Just Read the Instructions” approximately eight minutes after liftoff, marking its 118th successful landing on that vessel. The mission is part of a new month of launches for SpaceX, which aims to achieve at least 12-13 missions per month to meet its stated goals for the year.
The company’s proposal to increase launch frequency from SLC-40 in Florida is currently under consideration by the FAA. A draft environmental assessment has been submitted, and a virtual meeting is scheduled for May 8, with public comments closing on May 15. If approved, the proposal would allow for up to 120 launches per year and the construction of a booster landing zone supporting up to 34 landings.
