SpaceX Launches Falcon 9 Booster with New Starlink Satellites

SpaceX is targeting a Tuesday evening launch of its brand-new Falcon 9 first-stage booster for a Starlink mission. The launch, scheduled for 10:47 p.m. ET on February 25, will send up more than 20 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s Launch Complex 40.

According to the 45th Weather Squadron, there is a “95%” chance of good lift-off conditions, with only one concern: cumulus clouds. SpaceX has backup opportunities until 2:47 a.m. ET on Wednesday, February 26, if needed.

This will be the maiden flight for booster B1092, which will land on the droneship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean after stage separation. The mission aims to provide internet service to parts of Earth with 21 new satellites entering low-Earth orbit.

Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysicist Dr. Jonathan McDowell tracked Starlink satellites before this launch, recording 7,083 satellites already in orbit and 6,340 in operational orbit.
