SpaceX is set to launch its Falcon 9 rocket today at 1:48 p.m. EDT on a National Reconnaissance Organization (NRO) mission from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The launch, targeting the secretive NROL-69 national security mission, will occur from Launch Complex 40.
The rocket’s first-stage booster is expected to trigger sonic booms as it descends back to Earth after liftoff. The booster will then land at the military installation.
According to the US Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron, there is a 90% chance of “go for launch” weather today, with thick cloud layers posing a slight threat. Live coverage and updates can be found on the Florida Today website starting about 90 minutes before liftoff, including SpaceX’s live webcast about 10 minutes prior to liftoff.
