SpaceX has achieved a significant milestone with its latest launch, which marks the completion of the company’s 500th overall Falcon mission. The Falcon 9 rocket, carrying 26 Starlink internet satellites, successfully lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Thursday. The satellites were deployed in low Earth orbit as planned, and the first stage of the rocket touched down safely on a droneship after re-entry.
This achievement is notable not only for SpaceX’s record-breaking milestone but also for its continued focus on reusable rockets. With 28 launches under its belt, the company has set a new standard for efficient and cost-effective space exploration. The newly launched Starlink satellites will join over 7,600 active satellites in the megaconstellation, expanding internet access around the world.
SpaceX’s Starlink service is designed to provide high-speed internet coverage globally, with direct-to-cell capabilities that enable texting and internet services from smartphones and providers. With this launch, SpaceX has now launched 72 Falcon 9 missions in 2025, of which 54 have been in support of the Starlink service. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability continues to shape the future of space exploration.
