SpaceX Postpones Crew-11 Mission Due to Weather

A cumulus cloud scrubbed the launch of SpaceX’s Crew-11 mission just minutes before liftoff on Wednesday. The team is now targeting a new launch date no earlier than August 1, 2025.

Led by NASA astronaut Zena Cardman, the quartet will travel to the International Space Station via the Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft from Florida. The crew consists of Cardman, Mike Fincke, Kimiya Yui, and Oleg Platonov.

The mission was delayed due to favorable weather conditions on Thursday, which exceeded expectations. However, meteorologists forecast a higher threat for showers, storms, and increased winds on Friday.

SpaceX plans to use the Falcon 9 first stage booster with tail number B1094 for the mission. The booster experienced issues during previous flights but has undergone repairs.

The Crew-11 crew will be the sixth flight for the Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft, which previously flew on Demo-2 in May 2020. NASA and SpaceX aim to clear the vehicle for up to 15 flights.

The four astronauts and cosmonaut will conduct dozens of science experiments during their stay on the ISS, potentially lasting up to eight months.
