SpaceX Postpones Sunday Launch, Eyes Monday Night for GPS Mission

SpaceX has postponed its latest launch attempt on the Falcon 9 rocket, initially set for Sunday night, due to rough offshore weather forecast. The company is now targeting a new launch window on Monday night.

The initial launch attempt was scrubbed amid high winds on Friday the 13th, and SpaceX had planned a second attempt for Sunday night. However, the Space Force’s 45th Weather Squadron warned of poor booster recovery weather in the Atlantic Ocean, prompting the postponement.

On Monday, the launch window extends from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with the Falcon 9 rocket set to deploy a Lockheed Martin-built GPS III satellite for the Space Force’s Global Positioning System on a northeasterly trajectory.

A small craft advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service, warning of seas reaching 9-14 feet off the Brevard County shoreline, along with east winds of 15-25 knots and gusts up to 35 knots.
