SpaceX Set to Launch Crew-10 Mission on Friday Night

NASA is set to launch its Crew-10 mission, which includes four astronauts who will replace the troubled Starliner crew members, this Friday night. The mission, jointly operated by NASA and SpaceX, aims to bring the astronauts home after a nine-month stay at the International Space Station.

The Crew-10 team, led by NASA astronaut Anne McClain, will launch aboard a SpaceX Dragon capsule attached to a Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The launch is scheduled for 7:03 p.m. EST and can be watched live on USA TODAY’s YouTube channel or NASA’s streaming service, NASA+.

After the successful launch, the Crew-10 team is expected to dock at the space station’s Harmony module port around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15. The hatch will open at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, allowing the astronauts to enter the space station and greet their colleagues.

The mission marks the tenth science rotation mission to the International Space Station by SpaceX and includes four international astronauts: McClain, Nichole Ayers, Takuya Onishi, and Kirill Peskov.

A delayed launch due to an issue with the launchpad’s ground system pushed back the return of NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who were expected to depart on Sunday with Crew-9. The new timeline now sees the Starliner saga end around March 19, when the two astronauts join the Crew-9 team for a splashdown landing off the Florida coast.
