SpaceX to Launch 33rd Commercial Resupply Mission to ISS

NASA and SpaceX are set to launch the 33rd SpaceX commercial resupply services mission to the International Space Station on Sunday, August 24, at 2:45 a.m. EDT. The mission, scheduled to dock with the space station’s Harmony module around 7:30 a.m., will deliver over 5,000 pounds of supplies, including food, equipment, and experiments.

The cargo includes bone-forming stem cells for studying bone loss prevention, materials for 3D printing medical implants, and bioprinted liver tissue to study blood vessel development in microgravity. The Dragon spacecraft will also perform a reboost demonstration of the space station’s altitude, demonstrating its capability to sustain the lab’s orbit.

The mission is part of NASA’s ongoing efforts to advance future space exploration, including Artemis missions to the Moon and astronaut missions to Mars. The research conducted aboard the space station will provide multiple benefits to humanity.

Launch coverage will be available on NASA+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other platforms, with live streaming and blog updates beginning at 2:25 a.m. Sunday. Members of the public can also attend the launch virtually through NASA’s virtual guest program.
