SpaceX is set to launch a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 24 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit on Friday morning. The rocket will lift off between 8:44 and 12:44 p.m. from Space Launch Complex 4 East.
Residents in the local area, including those living near Vandenberg Space Force Base, can expect to hear a low rumble as the rocket takes off. However, there is no expected sonic boom that would be audible over populated areas.
A live webcast of the mission will begin five minutes before liftoff and can be watched on SpaceX’s website. After stage separation, the first stage of the rocket will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship in the Pacific Ocean.
Residents in nearby Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties may experience some noise or sonic booms during the launch, depending on weather conditions.
