SpaceX’s Dragon to Deliver Supplies and Experiments to ISS

NASA’s 33rd commercial resupply mission, launched on Sunday, is bound for the International Space Station. The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, carrying over 5,000 pounds of supplies, lifted off at 2:45 a.m. EDT from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

The launch marks an important milestone in the agency’s Artemis campaign, which aims to send astronauts to the Moon and prepare for future human exploration of Mars. The Dragon spacecraft will test new technologies, including 3D printing metal parts and bioprinting tissue in microgravity.

During its journey, the spacecraft will deliver several experiments, including bone-forming stem cells and bioprinted liver tissue. These studies aim to advance treatments for nerve damage on Earth and develop new medical implants.

The Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to dock autonomously at 7:30 a.m. Monday and remain at the space station until December, when it will depart and return to Earth with research and cargo.

Live coverage of the spacecraft’s arrival will begin at 6 a.m. Monday on NASA+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more.
