Spoon is back with a brand-new double A-side single, “Chateau Blues” and “Guess I’m Fallin in Love,” recorded alongside producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen. The tracks offer a glimpse into the band’s upcoming album, which could be their 11th overall. In a statement, frontman Britt Daniel mentioned that the two songs were finished before they started working on a full-length album.
The single’s release comes ahead of Spoon’s tour with Pixies, starting August 27th in San Diego, California. The tour will also take them to Morrison, CO; Houston; Pittsburgh; Chicago, and several other major cities. Tickets are now available for the outing, which is set to run until September 17th.
The tracks showcase Spoon’s signature wit and lo-fi charm, with “Chateau Blues” evoking a style reminiscent of The Kinks meets The Ramones. Meanwhile, “Guess I’m Fallin in Love” features the band’s trademark witty humor and heart.
