Up to seven planets align in the night sky during early 2025 – if you have the right tools, that is! NASA notes these multi-planet views aren’t super rare but don’t occur every year. This is a great time for stargazing, especially in January and February when Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Mercury align in the ecliptic plane.
In January, Venus and Saturn can be seen in the southwestern sky with Jupiter above and Mars to the east. Meanwhile, Uranus and Neptune are visible but require binoculars or a telescope for clarity.
On Jan. 25, Mercury joins the planet parade, making it a seven-planet spectacle that breaks up in February when Mercury disappears while others remain visible. The Hubble Space Telescope recently captured Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune during its grand tour of the Solar System. Remember to view celestial events with proper tools for an optimal experience.
