Spotify Users Slam 2024 Wrapped Package as Disappointing

Spotify users are criticizing the streaming platform’s latest “Wrapped” package, citing a lengthy wait time, underwhelming features, and a lack of statistics compared to competitors. Unlike previous years, this edition does not include top genres or albums, which has sparked disappointment among fans.

New features in Spotify Wrapped 2024 include an AI podcast that breaks down listening habits and a “music evolution” tool, which assigns users phrases to describe their listening habits in particular months. However, some users find these features lacking compared to previous iterations like “listening aura” and “sound town.”

The wait time for this year’s Wrapped edition has also been criticized, with the Dec. 4 release landing nearly a week after the late November releases of 2023 and 2022. Users took to social media to express their dissatisfaction, calling it the worst Spotify Wrapped ever.

Spotify laid off 17% of its workforce in December 2023 as part of a strategic reorientation, but this move has not improved user experience according to recent feedback. The platform’s CEO, Daniel Ek, acknowledged economic growth slowing down dramatically and stated that Spotify is not an exception to these realities.

As the most-streamed artist of 2024, Taylor Swift was announced on Wednesday morning, along with Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” as this year’s most-streamed song, and Joe Rogan as the biggest podcaster. However, users are still disappointed with the overall package, particularly in terms of statistics and new features compared to competitors like Apple Music and YouTube Music.
