Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson has addressed her recent domestic violence arrest, issuing an apology to her boyfriend Christian Coleman on social media. The 100-meter world champion was arrested on July 27 at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for allegedly assaulting Coleman.
Richardson posted a video on Instagram explaining that she put herself in a “compromised situation” and expressing her love for Coleman. She also issued a written apology, stating that her actions should be as loud as her words.
According to police reports, Richardson was observed grabbing Coleman’s backpack and shoving him into a wall after he tried to step around her. Coleman declined to participate in the investigation, citing Coleman not wanting to reenact the incident.
Richardson previously competed in several major international events, including the 2023 world championships, where she won gold, and the Paris Games, where she finished with silver. However, her recent arrest has overshadowed her athletic achievements for now.
