Spurs Without Jeremy Sochan for Denver Game

The San Antonio Spurs will head to Denver on Friday without starting power forward Jeremy Sochan due to a tight lower back. Sochan missed the second half of Tuesday’s 122-86 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, a game he also started despite struggling with pain in his left thumb. He fractured his thumb just before this season began and sat out 13 games between November 6 and December 1.

Since returning to the lineup, Sochan has averaged career-best numbers, including 13.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. The Spurs are currently 17-16 overall with Sochan in the lineup, but a more dismal 8-5 without him. Rookie Stephon Castle is expected to replace Sochan on Friday.

Sochan’s next chance at playing will come when the Spurs host the Nuggets on Saturday night.
