Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are set to be distributed earlier than usual this January, February, and March due to holidays falling on weekends. Instead of receiving payments on the first day of each month, recipients will receive their money on the last working day before the holiday.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that this change is made to avoid putting recipients at a financial disadvantage and ensuring timely payment without extending the wait beyond the first of the month. This year’s adjustments include a 2.5% boost in benefits, with the maximum monthly benefit for individuals reaching $967 and couples increasing to $1,450.
The payment schedules for each month will be as follows:
January: New Year’s Eve (December 31) is a holiday, so payments will be issued on December 31.
Those born between January 1-10 will receive benefits on the second Wednesday of the month (January 8).
Those born between January 11-20 will receive their payment on the following Wednesday (January 15).
People born between January 21-31 will get paid on the fourth Wednesday (January 22).
February: February 1 falls on a Saturday, so payments will be issued on January 31.
Those born between January 1-10 will receive benefits on the second Wednesday of the month (February 12).
Those born between January 11-20 will receive their payment on February 19.
People born between January 21-31 will get paid on the fourth Wednesday (February 26).
March: March 1 also falls on a Saturday, so payments will be issued on February 28.
Those born between January 1-10 will receive benefits on the second Wednesday of the month (March 12).
Those born between January 11-20 will receive their payment on March 19.
People born between January 21-31 will get paid on the fourth Wednesday (March 26).
This change aims to minimize disruptions to recipients’ financial lives while still ensuring timely payment.
