St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport was closed for several hours on Friday afternoon after a bomb threat was reported on Allegiant Air Flight 2006. According to Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, the threat was written on a lavatory door and targeted all Allegiant planes at the airport.
Approximately 170 passengers were on board when the flight attendant discovered the threat around 4:30 p.m. Friday. No injuries were reported, but the investigation is ongoing. The sheriff stated that there is no immediate threat to anyone on the plane or at the airport.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office bomb-sniffing dogs assisted by local agencies cleared all planes, but arrivals and departures remain delayed. Authorities have identified some individuals whose actions were suspicious, and they are investigating further. The airport is expected to be returned to normal operations shortly.
