Stafford’s Annual Pancake Race Flips into Fun

The annual pancake race returned to Stafford’s streets, bringing a day of fun for teams and spectators. Over 100 people gathered in Market Square to watch four-person teams compete in a relay race with a twist – they had to flip their pancakes twice before reaching the end.

The event began at 12:30pm on a sunny afternoon, with Councillor Frank James getting proceedings underway as Mayor of Stafford Borough. The winning team, Stafford Building Society, edged out Stafford-based Nowell Mellor Solicitors in an agonisingly close final, claiming the winner’s frying pan prize.

Historic Stafford finished last but still managed to have fun, earning a wooden spoon. Representatives from local radio station Vibe 1, Bizarre Balloons, and Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance joined in on the day’s festivities. The event was organised by Freedom Leisure on behalf of Stafford Borough Council, which always proves popular with residents and shoppers.

The organisers praised the event’s success, saying “the smiles from our flippers and those who came out to watch were great”. The event is a beloved annual tradition that brings the community together for a fun-filled day.
