Stalker 2’s developers, GSC Game World, have addressed the controversy surrounding the game’s AI system, A-Life. The company’s CEO, Ievgen Grygorovych, explained that the system requires a larger area to spawn NPCs than what is currently in the game due to optimization issues and memory resource management problems.
Grygorovych stated that despite its initial promises, A-Life 2.0 did not work as intended, leading to players’ frustration with enemies spawning too quickly. However, he assured that the company is working on optimizing the system to improve performance and increase its range.
Creative director Maria Grygorovych attributed the removal of A-Life’s description from the game’s Steam page to a marketing conversation gone wrong. The team had intended for new players to understand what they were talking about, but the changes made without their consent raised concerns.
The company has since updated the Steam page to simply state that the game features “advanced artificial intelligence systems.” Despite this, many players have expressed disappointment with the game’s performance, labeling it as a “fantastic foundation dragged down by bugs and polish problems.”
GSC Game World is not done yet, having released their first post-launch patch with over 650 fixes for various issues. The company’s commitment to addressing these concerns is promising, but it remains to be seen how they will impact the game’s overall experience.
