Stalker 2 Patch Brings Bug Fixes, But Some Issues Remain Unaddressed

GSC Game World has released its first major patch for Stalker 2, focusing on bug fixes and addressing some of the game’s launch-day issues. Despite a large day-one patch, hundreds of bugs and problems remained in the game.

The latest post-launch patch includes fixes for various issues such as memory allocation problems, game-breaking progression bugs, NPC behavior, and visual errors. Some major quests like Visions of Truth and A Minor Incident have also been revised to ensure smooth transitions.

However, some key issues will remain unaddressed in this initial patch, including the game’s A-Life system, which is responsible for enemy and NPC AI. This problem is being worked on for future patches, as are fixes related to analog stick input handling on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The patch also aims to address a problem with analog stick inputs, where tiny movements can cause characters to move erratically. Players on these platforms are advised to use a mouse and keyboard until further fixes are available.

GSC Game World acknowledges that while the game has made progress, it still needs work. In a review, one critic stated that Stalker 2 is “one for the sickos” – implying that it may not be ready for mass release just yet.
