Stalking Survivor’s 13-Year Ordeal

ABC News Studios is set to release a new docu-series titled “Stalking Samantha: 13 Years of Terror,” which chronicles the real-life story of Samantha Stites, a woman who endured over a decade of stalking before being kidnapped. The series begins streaming on August 19 on Hulu.

Samantha Stites initially met her captor, an individual inspired by the fictional character from the TV show “You.” He began following her to work, the gym, and even grocery shopping. She attempted to file for a personal protection order, but when it expired, she was unable to get a new one due to concerns about being denied and potentially escalating the situation.

One morning, Stites woke up in a makeshift bunker to find herself a captive of her stalker. Describing her experience, she revealed that she felt trapped in a torture chamber with soundproof patches on the walls, making it impossible for anyone to hear her screams.

Stites’ escape from captivity was marked by her acknowledgment that she is no superhero and didn’t possess any special training that would have allowed her to survive such an ordeal. The docu-series explores all the details of her case, including her arrest and the eventual justice served.
