In a message to employees on Monday, Starbucks CEO Kevin Niccol announced the company’s decision to eliminate 1,100 current support partner roles and several hundred open positions as part of a restructuring effort. The goal is to simplify its structure, remove redundancy, and create smaller, more agile teams.
Starbucks also plans to cut drinks from its menu, starting March 4. Over 30 items will be removed, including popular Frappuccino blended beverages like the Espresso Frappuccino and Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino. The company claims that these items are not commonly purchased or are too complex to make.
In addition to removing drinks, Starbucks expects to cut several other menu items throughout the coming months. By the end of fiscal year 2025 (September 2025), approximately 30% of its menu will have been reduced. This move aims to make way for new, innovative items that will be added to the menu.
Despite cutting existing items, Starbucks plans to introduce new drinks and food options in the coming months, including lavender-based beverages as part of its spring menu.
