Starbucks is making significant changes to its menu and operations to focus on quality and customer experience. As of March 4, the company will be removing 13 drinks from its menu due to their complexity or popularity.
The moves aim to “get back to Starbucks” and simplify menus to reduce wait times and improve consistency. The company plans to add three new drinks and a savory food option as part of its spring season offerings.
The changes also involve reducing the corporate and support partner workforce, resulting in 1,100 job losses. However, this will not affect baristas or in-store teams.
Among the drinks being removed from the menu are Iced Matcha Lemonade, Espresso Frappuccino, Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino, Java Chip Frappuccino, and several other caffeinated beverages. In their place, Starbucks is introducing new options like a Jalapeño Chicken Pocket and lavender-infused drinks.
The company’s Chairman and CEO Brian Niccol emphasized the need for simplification to focus on fewer, more popular items executed with excellence. This will make way for innovation and help improve customer experience at Starbucks.
