Stargate Partners with Oracle for $4.5GW Data Center Expansion

US tech giant OpenAI has partnered with Oracle to develop 4.5 gigawatts of additional Stargate data center capacity in the US. The investment will create new jobs, accelerate America’s reindustrialization, and advance US AI leadership.

The partnership marks a major milestone for Stargate, OpenAI’s AI infrastructure platform, and brings total capacity under development to over 5 gigawatts, running on 2 million chips. This exceeds OpenAI’s initial commitment of $500 billion in AI infrastructure investment over four years.

Stargate is expected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs, including construction and operations roles, with estimates suggesting over 100,000 new positions will be created across the US. The data center expansion also complements existing site in Abilene, Texas, where parts are now operational.

OpenAI’s partnership with SoftBank is also progressing, with both companies reimagining data centers to power advanced AI. Microsoft will continue to provide cloud services for OpenAI through Stargate.
