Starlink Satellite Chain Visible Over Sonoma County This Week

A batch of 23 communications satellites launched by SpaceX into low Earth orbit can be seen in the sky this week. The new launch, which occurred on Saturday from Cape Canaveral, Florida, is expected to be visible bright for four-minute stretches at around 6 p.m. local time from Monday to Thursday.

Residents in Sonoma County can track the satellites’ movement using websites like findstarlink.com. According to the website, viewers in Santa Rosa and surrounding areas should see the new chain looking west to north starting around 6:02 p.m. on Monday and 6:06 p.m. on Tuesday, with similar viewing times for Wednesday and Thursday.

This is part of a growing constellation of more than 6,700 Starlink satellites currently in orbit. The launch expands global access to high-speed internet service and is the latest effort by SpaceX’s founder Elon Musk to bring connectivity to underserved areas around the world.
