Starlink Satellites Spotted Over Triangle Region Tuesday Night

A series of sightings of SpaceX’s Starlink satellites was reported across the Raleigh-Durham area on Tuesday night. Multiple viewers shared photos and videos of the satellites, with some spotting them around 9 p.m. near RDU airport. The exact timing varied depending on location, with reports coming in as late as 9:30 p.m. in some areas.

Residents initially thought the satellites might be military jets due to their synchronized movements. However, SpaceX officials have confirmed that they are indeed Starlink satellites.

The SpaceX Starlink Satellites Tracker is a useful resource for tracking satellite sightings at any location. According to the tracker, more sightings are possible this Friday night.

Starlink is a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX aimed at providing high-speed internet access to underserved and remote areas. The technology has already been tested during Hurricane Helene, delivering internet access to affected areas in western North Carolina where networks were down or non-existent.
