Starmer Condemns Bob Vylan’s ‘Appalling’ IDF Chants at Glastonbury

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has strongly criticized Bob Vylan, a UK punk duo, for urging “death” to Israeli troops during their performance at the Glastonbury Festival. The chants were described as “appalling hate speech” by festival organizers and have sparked widespread condemnation from politicians.

Starmer said there was no excuse for the group’s comments and that they should not be given a platform if they make threats or incite violence. This is not an isolated incident, with several cabinet ministers denouncing Bobby Vylan’s comments.

Glastonbury Festival organizers also expressed their disappointment, stating that Bob Vylan’s statements crossed a line. The BBC had faced criticism for its decision to broadcast the group’s performance live, despite issues with “deeply offensive” and discriminatory language.

The incident has sparked outrage among antisemitism campaigners, who have announced plans to formally complain to the BBC over its decision to broadcast the act. Avon and Somerset Police will review footage of comments made by acts on the West Holts Stage to determine if any offenses may have been committed.
