Stars Face Off Against Oilers in Game 3 Western Conference Final

Roope Hintz’s status is uncertain as he was slashed on the top of his left foot by Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse during Game 2. The Dallas Stars are looking to regain home-ice advantage with at least one win in Edmonton, but they’ll face an uphill battle without their star center.

The Oilers have been strong, winning both games behind outstanding performances from goalie Stuart Skinner and captain Connor McDavid. Skinner has gone shutout in three of his four playoff wins, while McDavid is on a roll with 20 points in 13 games, including a recent assist that gave him the fourth player in NHL history to reach this mark.

The series stands at 1-1, with Game 3 set for Sunday at Rogers Place. The Stars are relying on their powerful power play to turn around their fortunes, converting at 33.3 percent so far in the playoffs. However, they’ve struggled at even strength, and without Hintz, who had an even-strength point in just one of his first two games, it’s unclear if they can overcome this challenge.

The Oilers are looking to build on their strong performance in Game 2, which saw them shut out the Stars for a third time. Edmonton’s penalty kill has struggled in the playoffs, but at home, it’s been much better, giving up just two goals on 12 short-handed situations.
