Steam Shifts to 64-Bit Only on Windows Systems Starting December

Valve’s latest update marks the end of 32-bit support on Windows systems, with all 32-bit users set to stop receiving updates in 2026. The new 64-bit version is now available for those using Windows 10 and 11, while remaining compatible with 32-bit games. However, users on outdated hardware will no longer receive security fixes or updates, effectively “freezing” the platform. Despite making up only a small percentage of Steam users, the decision aims to improve future compatibility.
