Steam Users Warned of Potential Malware Infection from PirateFi Game

Valve has issued a warning to users who played the game PirateFi on Steam, advising them to perform a full system reset due to suspected malware. The game was removed from Steam just days after its launch due to containing suspected malware files. Although the number of affected users is believed to be small, Valve recommends running a full-system scan and checking for unexpected software downloads.

The email sent to affected users by Valve encourages them to use an anti-virus product and consider fully reformatting their operating system to ensure no malicious software remains on their machine. This incident marks an ongoing trend of increasing malware attacks in games, with Cities: Skylines 2 recently being targeted as well.
