The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing to evaluate their quarterback room as coach Mike Tomlin indicated that the team is examining its options to add a new quarterback. The Steelers had previously shown interest in Aaron Rodgers and recently visited him at the team facility, where he spent nearly six hours. However, Tomlin was coy about the specifics of their talks.
“We’re optimistic about the room we’re constructing,” Tomlin said, adding that having Mason Rudolph back is crucial to the team’s plans. The Steelers signed Rudolph to a two-year deal after giving him an opportunity last season.
Tomlin did not rule out other potential options, stating that the team will explore all available choices in free agency and the draft. While there was no internal deadline set for resolving the situation with Rodgers, Tomlin acknowledged that having an incomplete quarterback position at training camp could negatively impact team development.
The Steelers have already made moves to bolster their roster, signing wide receiver DK Metcalf, cornerback Darius Slay Jr., and running back Kenneth Gainwell.
