The Pittsburgh Steelers have activated key players ahead of their matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith is set to return from an ankle injury that kept him out for three games. This development brings a boost to the defense, which has struggled with injuries this season.
Highsmith’s return is a welcome one for the team, as fellow outside linebackers T.J. Watt and Jeremiah Moon are expected to play in full capacity. “It allows us to take a breather,” said Watt. “You don’t have to play 90 percent of snaps, which it feels like we’ve been doing this season.” Watt’s reduced workload is a welcome relief, as he has been carrying the team’s defense on his back.
Coach Mike Tomlin expressed excitement about Highsmith’s return, saying “It’s pretty exciting” and that the team is excited to see how the addition of depth will impact their performance. The Browns’ offense, meanwhile, must be aware of Highsmith’s impact, with coach Ken Dorsey acknowledging that he is a top rusher who can generate pressure.
The Steelers’ full inactive list includes George Pickens, who missed practice late in the week due to a hamstring injury, as well as Cory Trice Jr. and Max Scharping. The Browns have their own list of inactives, which includes Bailey Zappe, Cedric Tillman, and Chigozie Anusiem.
