Steelers Select Ohio State QB Will Howard in 6th Round

The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected former Ohio State quarterback Will Howard with the 185th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Howard, 23, has a classic size for the position at 6-foot-4 and 236 pounds.

In his final season at Ohio State, Howard led the Buckeyes to a national championship and threw for over 4,000 yards with 35 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He completed 73% of his passes and added 226 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Howard is known for being an aggressive down-the-field passer who can throw quickly, averaging 2.66 seconds to complete a pass in 2024. Despite this, he still shows great touch and feel on his non-screen passes, completing 70% of them that season.

The Steelers join Howard with former Kansas State teammate Skylar Thompson on their roster. The two were quarterbacks together for the Wildcats in 2020 and 2021. Veteran quarterback Mason Rudolph also joins the team.

Howard’s leadership skills have been impressive, helping his teams win a 27-7 record over his final three seasons. He will look to bring this success to the Steelers as they continue to build their roster for the future.
