Steelers Select Power Pass Rusher Jack Sawyer in 4th Round

The Pittsburgh Steelers have selected outside linebacker Jack Sawyer from Ohio State with the 123rd pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Sawyer, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound edge rusher, has impressive collegiate numbers, including 23 sacks, 59 tackles, and seven pass defenses.

A power rusher off the edge, Sawyer excels at getting to the passer while also stopping the run. He made big plays in big moments during Ohio State’s national championship run, recording six of his seven batted passes and five of his sacks in college bowl series games.

Sawyer brings a crucial addition to the Steelers’ pass rush, pairing him with fellow backup Nick Herbig behind starters T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. The rookie is expected to be a big contributor on special teams as well, having played on some packages for Ohio State in 2024.

Notably, Sawyer is a durable player who never missed a game during his collegiate career, finishing with 29 consecutive starts. His skills will help bolster the Steelers’ defense and contribute to their success in the coming season.
