Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is fuming after a run-in with Carson Hocevar at the NASCAR Cup Series race in Nashville, where Stenhouse’s car was damaged and he finished 39th. The incident occurred during Stage 2 when Hocevar hit Stenhouse from behind, sending him into the outside wall.
Stenhouse, who entered the race 13th in the standings and 10 points above the cut-line, was not expecting the move by Hocevar, but it didn’t surprise him entirely. “It’s just a bummer for us,” Stenhouse said in an interview after the incident. “The No. 47 Chevrolet wasn’t great, but we were making changes.”
Stenhouse hinted at payback against Hocevar, saying “I definitely weren’t expecting that at that point of the race… Bummed our day ended like that, definitely will have something to do about it at one point.” The incident has left Stenhouse’s team frustrated and disappointed.
In contrast, Carson Hocevar offered no apologies for the incident, stating he didn’t see the replay and wasn’t surprised by the move. “I feel like that was just a common move with how big of a run I had,” Hocevar said. However, Stenhouse’s warning suggests that the tension between the two drivers is far from over.
