Steve Bannon Warns Trump Risk of Remaining In Ukraine Like Nixon in Vietnam

Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist, has warned that the Republican president is at risk of getting drawn deeper into Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine. The “War Room” podcast host expressed concern during an interview with POLITICO, stating that Trump could be lured into a conflict similar to Richard Nixon’s decision to remain in Vietnam after the fall of Saigon. Bannon argued that Trump might unintentionally take on the U.S.-Ukraine War as his own, much like how Nixon became entangled in the war he wasn’t supposed to be part of. The warning comes amid growing pressure from Trump’s administration to end significant U.S. military aid to Ukraine, with fears that his former boss might be influenced by an unlikely coalition. This includes Keith Kellogg, a retired general who has been tapped as Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Bannon emphasized that without careful consideration, the situation could escalate into something akin to “Trump’s Vietnam,” as he described it during his warning.
