Steven Soderbergh’s latest spy thriller, Black Bag, gets off to a stunning start with a single-take shot that showcases Michael Fassbender’s suave and sophisticated George Woodhouse. As a crack British intelligence officer and human lie detector, George is tasked with rooting out a mole within his own ranks, with his wife Cate Blanchett playing the suspect numero uno. The film is an elegant game of cat and mouse, with Soderbergh expertly balancing psychological tension and suspense.
The ensemble cast delivers standout performances, particularly Marisa Abela as Clarissa Dubose, a young surveillance operative with a mischievous streak.
