The recent addition of Terry Bogard to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has helped bring the interconnected King of Fighters franchise to a broader audience. This increased exposure is expected to boost sales and contribute to SNK’s comeback, with the long-awaited return of Fatal Fury.
A crossover between Street Fighter and the King of Fighters universe has been in development for years. The partnership began with 1999’s SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash, followed by classic titles like Capcom vs SNK 2 in 2001. More recently, SNK released the Open Beta for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, featuring eight playable fighters, including Rock, Mai, and Terry.
The beta will run from February 20 to 24, allowing fans to test the game’s gameplay. The developers have also announced that a classic costume from Fatal Fury 2 will be available as a pre-order bonus. With its release scheduled for February 5, Street Fighter fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Mai Shiranui, who is expected to reignite the flames with her new content.
The upcoming title promises to deliver on fan expectations, with early impressions suggesting it’s intent on living up to its predecessors’ success. As a result, the sequel has generated significant excitement among fans and is likely to be a major contributor to SNK’s comeback.
