Stu Cook Sells Sarasota Waterfront Home After 27-Month Rebuild Process

Creedence Clearwater Revival Bassist Stu Cook is parting ways with his Sarasota, Florida home after a devastating accidental fire in 2014. The kitchen fire, caused by an unattended cooktop, destroyed most of the Gulf Coast property but was rebuilt from the ground up.

Cook and his wife Dana bought the waterfront home in 2013 for $2.95 million, initially planning minor renovations to update the 1980s-style design. However, after a call informing them of the fire, they were forced to rebuild the entire property.

Working with architect Carl Abbott, who designed the original home, the Cooks implemented some of Abbott’s scrapped plans, including large sliding doors and a roof deck. The updated interior features white oak floors, marble fireplaces, and modern staircases.

The rebuilt 4,559-square-foot home boasts four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and an elevator. It also includes a heated pool, hot tub, outdoor shower, and a boat dock with a lift. Cook has since downsized to a condo in Sarasota due to the high maintenance of the large home.

Cook, who was part of Creedence Clearwater Revival from 1967-1972, is now looking for a new place to call home after the rebuild process.
