Subaru has topped the annual reliability list from Consumer Reports, a position that may come as no surprise to many. However, rival electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has struggled to deliver reliable vehicles, with its SUV and pickup models ranking near the bottom.
Despite finishing last among EVs, Rivian’s vehicles still scored better than some traditional gas-powered cars. However, customers have reported issues with their electric motors, batteries, and charging systems. Additionally, advanced technology in the cabin, such as infotainment systems, has also been a point of contention.
Consumer Reports noted that while many electric vehicle manufacturers are improving in reliability, EVs still experience more problems than traditional hybrid or gas-powered cars. Some models, like Ford’s Mustang Mach-E, scored well in terms of reliability, while Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y fell into an average category.
