The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced a recall of approximately 6,166 pounds of pork lard and beef tallow products produced by Sulu Organics LLC without federal inspection. The products were shipped to retail locations nationwide and were sold online.
The recalled items include:
– Pork lard: 50-lb boxes with various expiration dates
– Beef tallow: 7-lb plastic buckets, 4-lb plastic buckets, 1.5-lb glass jars, and 4-lb plastic buckets
These products do not bear the USDA mark of inspection due to a lack of federal oversight during production. The problem was discovered after FSIS received consumer complaints about online sales.
Consumers are advised not to consume these products, which may be in their refrigerators or pantries. To check if you have purchased any of these products, visit the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
