Sundance Film Festival Rallies Amid Personal Tragedy and Uncertainty

The Sundance Film Festival got underway in Park City, Utah, just two weeks after wildfires ravaged Los Angeles. Michelle Satter, Sundance Institute’s founding senior director, was among those affected, having lost her family home to the blaze. Despite personal tragedy, she attended a fundraising gala honoring her 40 years of supporting emerging artists and watched fewer films than usual – but remained committed to the festival. “It’s our community and we all came together,” Satter said in an interview with The Washington Post. “Storytelling has the power to change the world and have an impact.”
