Sundance has faced a piracy problem, with film “Twinless” being pulled from its online screening portal after clips surfaced on social media platforms. The decision comes just hours after another Sundance selection, “Selena y Los Dinos,” was also removed due to piracy concerns.
The festival claims to take copyright infringement seriously and will fully cooperate with law enforcement on piracy-related issues. However, the move has caused disappointment for fans who had purchased tickets to watch the film online.
Despite this setback, Sundance plans to keep its platform available for all remaining films for the rest of the weekend. The issue marks the first time pirated copies and clips have appeared online during the festival’s four-year online screening program.
The incident has sparked criticism from a freelance writer, who expressed disappointment with those responsible for leaking the footage.
