Supergirl Falls Flat in Lackluster Superhero Adventure

The latest installment in the superhero-comic book genre has failed to impress, with “Supergirl” struggling to find its footing despite a promising premise and talented cast. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film follows Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) as she navigates her life on Earth after being sent from Krypton as a child. However, the movie’s lack of originality, poor pacing, and underdeveloped characters hold it back.

The film’s attempts to tackle complex themes like sex trafficking are admirable but ultimately feel like a shallow attempt at social commentary. The action sequences are disjointed and unengaging, while the humor falls flat due to over-reliance on tired gags. Even talented actors like Matthias Schoenaerts and David Corenswet can’t elevate the material.

Overall, “Supergirl” feels like a missed opportunity, relying too heavily on familiar superhero tropes and failing to bring anything new or exciting to the table.
