Superyacht ‘Bayesian’ Raises from Sicily Seabed After One Year

A luxury superyacht called the Bayesian has been raised from the seabed off the coast of Sicily nearly a year after it sank, killing seven people on board. The 56m vessel was owned by British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, who died in the incident along with his 18-year-old daughter Hannah and five others.

Inspections are now underway to determine the cause of the sinking. Italian officials revealed that wind speeds over 73mph could have toppled the yacht, and an investigation found that Lynch and crew were unaware of these vulnerabilities. The ship’s hull is badly damaged and covered in mud, as seen in footage from the salvage operation.

The vessel will be taken to a nearby port for further inspection and removal from the water. An ongoing investigation has been underway since last month, and it is expected to shed light on what led to the sinking of the Bayesian. The incident has raised questions about safety protocols and maritime regulations.
