Supreme Court Order Disrupts Food Stamp Payments Nationwide

Millions of low-income families across the US faced disruptions to their food stamp benefits after a late-night Supreme Court order allowed the Trump administration to continue withholding some funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Despite having tens of billions in leftover funds, the White House refused to use them to prevent severe interruptions to the nutrition program.

The decision halted the work to restart food stamps, particularly in states that had not yet made full payments to all residents. In Massachusetts, officials managed to send full aid to residents who were owed a payment by Friday, but remained unsure when benefits would reach low-income families scheduled to receive their next week.
