Suspect in Nancy Guthrie Case Visited Her Home Earlier Than Abduction Date

The suspect in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case is believed to have visited her home before February 1, when she was last seen alive. A doorbell camera captured an image of the man without a backpack at her front door, but it’s unclear how many days before February 1 the video was taken. The FBI released the images and videos of the suspect on February 10, asking for public help in identifying him.

The suspect is described as around 5 feet 9-10 inches tall with an average build. He was seen carrying a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack without a mask or gloves in the doorbell camera video. The FBI released the images and videos of the suspect showing him wearing a face mask and gloves, carrying a backpack.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that the information about the timing of the video is not from his department or the FBI. A spokesperson for Google, which owns Nest cameras, also did not immediately respond to questions about when the earlier video was taken.

The investigation has been working with private sector partners and reviewing surveillance footage from local Walmart locations where the suspect’s backpack may have been purchased. The FBI has said that the backpack is sold exclusively at Walmart, and investigators are reviewing records of all Ozark Trail Hiker purchases in the past few months.

DNA evidence found on a glove near Nancy Guthrie’s home matches the ones worn by the suspect seen in the doorbell camera video, but no match was found when submitted to the national database.
